Crane rigging safety training course teaches employees the safe way to handle crane
rigging and all the hazards associated with using cranes while at work. Cranes are
used at many workplaces, across all major industries, to lift and move
materials.Rigging is the process of moving heavy load with slings, chains, hoists
and other special tools. The equipment used for lifting and moving loads is also
called rigging. Cranes can be very dangerous when used in an unsafe manner. It is
the signal person that provides instructions to the crane operator and it is vital
that the crane operator follow the signal person’s instructions. Both of these
individuals play an important role in the overall safety of crane operation. The
two-part hand signaling course covers basic skills and knowledge needed to use hand
or voice signals to direct the movements of mobile and tower cranes. In addition,
guidelines for using voice signals are provided.Rigging is the process of moving

Crane operators are generally trained and often certified in safe crane operations
and inspection. However, many accidents involving cranes are caused by failures of
crane rigging and rigging hardware.OSHA requires riggers to be qualified, a
designation determined by their employer based on knowledge, skills, and
performance. Our rigger training will certainly help riggers achieve qualified
status. Our training will also prepare students for rigger certification, which is
not required by OSHA, but is required by some employers or customers.A certified
rigger is a person who has been trained and certified to handle and move loads. The
level of certification depends upon the individual’s training, knowledge, skill
base, and ability to perform functions related to the selection, inspection, and
proper use of rigging equipment. This person may be qualified in a craft or trade and
carry an occupational title such as iron worker, electrician, carpenter, millwright,
mechanic, laborer, mason, longshoreman, lineman, pipe fitter, boilermaker, and the
like. (The persons described in the categories above will be referred to as rigger
even though they carry another occupational title.)A qualified rigger is defined as
a qualified person who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate or
professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training and experience,
successfully demonstrated the ability to solve/resolve problems relating to rigging.
